Anoka logs sixth shutout of season in Coon Rapids. May 10, 2014

Coon Rapids hosted Anoka Saturday afternoon. The game started just after clouds blanketed the sky. The temperature was near 70 with a light wind out of the northwest and just a couple drops of rain. There was little action in the first inning. In the top of the second, LeeAnna Nevin hit a one out single. Taylor Chell entered the game to run for LeeAnna and quickly made her way to second with a stolen base. With 2 out, Alyssa Wicks hit a single driving in Taylor. Coon Rapids started the 2nd with a single but a couple fly outs and a strike out ended the inning. A walk and an error setup an opportunity for Megan Lindenfelser and she delivered with a single scoring both runners while advancing to 2nd on the throw. Morgan Paaverud drove in Megan with triple and LeeAnna Nevin drove in Morgan with her second single. Down 6-0, a couple Anoka errors allowed 2 base runners for Coon Rapids but a strikeout and a groundout dashed their hopes. In the 4th, Dayja led off with a double and was driven in on a single by Makayla Zimmer. Megan Lindenfelser reached on a fielder’s choice then scored on an error following a single by Morgan Paaverud. After no action in the 5th, Anoka added 2 runs in the 6th for a 10-0 lead. Makayla Zimmer got things started with a double and scored on an error. Taylor Chell reached base on an error and scored while Morgan Paaverud added another single. Coon Rapids hit a couple singles in the bottom on the 6th but was unable to capitalize for a final tally of 10-0.
Amber Elliott pitched all 6 innings for Anoka giving up 4 hits while striking out 4.
