Tonight’s double header took place at Anoka high school. The weather was fantastic with a wind light and the temperature in the low sixties. Each game was scheduled for five innings. With Anoka the home team in game one, Anoka sent Megan Lindenfelser to the mound. Anoka started quickly striking out the side then scoring five runs taking full advantage of a walk, an error and a hit batter along with singles by Amber Elliott, LeeAnna Nevin and Laura King. In the second, Robbinsdale Armstrong hit a one out single and after a stolen base and Anoka error, scored one run. With the score 5-1 after an inning and a half, that was where the score ended. Anoka logged a couple more hits by Megan Lindenfelser and Amber Elliott. Megan pitched all 5 innings allowing 3 hits while striking out 8.
In the second game, Anoka sent Amber Elliott to the mound. Offensively LeeAnna Nevin scored Anoka’s only run in the 3rd inning. LeeAnna led off the 3rd with a single then advanced to third on a single by Alyssa Wicks and a walk of Makayla Zimmer. With one out in the third, Gabby Blomlie hit a fly ball to center allowing LeeAnna to tag up and score while an Anoka base runner was thrown out for out number three on the play. LeeAnna Nevin and Alyssa Wicks were both 2 for 2 with LeeAnna hitting a single and a double while Alyssa hit two singles. Those were the only hits for Anoka in game two. Amber pitched all five innings getting the shutout on one hit while striking out 9.
LeeAnna Nevin caught both games.
