Anoka breezes through Becker tournament. May 3, 2014.

Another beautiful day for softball! The wind was relatively light for this time of year and the temps were in the 50’s. Anoka started off the day against Foley. Molly Swenson took the mound for Anoka picking up the win in 5 innings. Molly gave up just 6 hits in 5 innings of work while also recording 6 strikeouts and allowing 2 runs. Meanwhile some good hitting by Anoka generated 14 runs on 16 hits.
In the second game of the day, Anoka faced section 7AAA rival Chisago Lakes. This would turn out to be another lopsided affair. Amber Elliott pitched for Anoka giving up just 2 hits in five innings, allowing no runs to score while striking out six. Anoka hit the ball hard scoring 18 runs on 17 hits. Leading Anoka’s offensive attack was Taylor Chell going 4 for 4 with 3 singles and a homerun.
In the championship game, Anoka faced conference rival Park Center. Anoka got off to a fast start scoring 7 of 10 runs in the first inning. Anoka added 2 more runs in the 2nd and one in the 5th while holding Park Center scoreless to bring this game to an early end as well. Anoka scored their 10 runs off 11 hits. Megan Lindenfelser pitched all five innings for Anoka giving up just one hit to the leadoff batter to start the game then proceeding to strike out 11 of the next 15 batters.
