Tigers Come Up Short Vs. Westran

On Tuesday, February 15th, the Marceline Tigers took the court against the Hornets of Westran. It was another home game for the Tigers, as they were still looking for their first conference win of the season. The Tigers knew it was going to be tough, as Westran was no push over. The Tigers got the ball rolling quickly and jumped out to a 12-5 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. The Tigers looked to add to that lead going into halftime, but still took a 21-15 lead heading into the break. The Hornets inched their way back into the game and cut the lead to 1 at the end of the 3rd quarter. Marceline 27, Westran 26. Late in the game, the Tigers found themselves losing the lead and trying to play catch-up to end the game. The Tigers fall just short from their first conference W. Final score: Marceline 37, Westran 40.
Offensively, the Tigers were led by Dylan Clubine, Brennen Floray, and Nico Batye, each with 8 points. Brian Husky had 6, and Brett McGlothlin had 4. Chase Hilsabeck also contributed a 3 in the 2nd quarter.
With this loss, the Tigers drop to 8-12 on the season, and 0-6 in conference play. The Tigers have the luxury of another home game but are in desperate need of a win to salvage their season. They will square off with the LaPlata Bulldogs. Tip time is set for 6:00 P.M.
