Tippecanoe Valley Holds Off North Judson

It was the tale of two halves as the 8-2 Tippecanoe Valley Lady Vikings hosted North Judson, coming in with a record of 7-2.
The two teams traded the lead 10 times and were tied 6 times in the first half before Valley took control in the second half and then held on for a 62-56 win.
North Judson hit the first bucket of the game that was quickly answered by Staci Groom with two free throws and a bucket to give the Vikings a 4-2 lead. The Lady Bluejays answered with the next four points before Tory Keirn connected. With North Judson up 11-8, Keirn would drain a three to tie the score. North Judson would then go on an 8-0 run to go up 19-11 before Brooke O'Connor hit before the buzzer to make it 19-13 after one.
Valley would come out a little more aggresive in the second quarter, out scoring North Judson 18-9. Connor Fraser got things started with a bucket, followed by a bucket from Megan Bibler, two free throws from Groom and a bucket from Caylie Teel to take a 21-20 lead. The two teams would trade buckets and the lead six more times on the next seven possesions before Teel hit to put Valley up for good at 27-26. After a Bluejay timeout, Teel would hit again, followed by Groom and the Lady Vikings led 31-28 at the half.
North Judson hit the first bucket of the second half to make it 31-30. The Lady Vikings then went to work. Groom drained a three with buckets coming from Bibler and Kelsey Ball and it was 38-32. After a Blujay bucket, Keirn hit two free throws and with 3:24 to play it was 40-36. Teel would hit a bucket and with 2:04 left hit a free throw to put Valley up 43-36. At 43-37 Groom nailed her second three of the night and then hit a free throw with 53 seconds left and Valley led 47-37 after three.
Coming out fired up after stretching the lead to 10 points after three, Groom started the fourth with a three pointer and was followed with a bucket from Teel and the Vikings had broke it open at 52-37. North Judson was 7-2 for a reason and they began to peck away, cutting the lead to 52-42 with 5:59 to play. After two Bibler free throws made it 54-42 the Bluejays rallied again, making it 54-46 with 3:43 to go. A Bibler bucket and two free throws from Teel made it 58-49 with 1:51 to go when things started getting hectic. After three consecutive jump balls, North Judson hit again with 43 seconds remaning to make it 58-51. Keirn hit one free throw as the Bluejays were fouling to get the ball and they quickly drained a three, making it 59-54 with 29.9 left. After a foul, Groom would hit one free throw and then steal the ball and hit to make it 62-54. North Judson would hit with 4.3 left, as Valley held on for the 62-56 win.
Leading Tippecanoe Valley was Staci Groom with 23 points. Caylie Teel had 15, Megan Bibler 8, Tory Keirn 8, Kelsey Ball 4, Brooke O'Connor 2 and Connor Fraser 2.
