The Northfield baseball team wasted no time jumping on Maconaquah Thursday, scoring three runs in the first on their way to an 8-2 win.
In the bottom of the first lead off hitter Adam Roser drew a walk and was sacrificed to second with a bunt from Tanner Chamberlain. Andy Roser was hit by a pitch and brother Adam advanced to third on the next pitch. Ryan Keaffaber singled home Adam Roser to lead 1-0 before Austin Keen doubled home Andy Roser and Keaffaber to lead 3-0.
In the bottom of the third and still leading 3-0, Ryan Keaffaber launched a shot over the left field fence to put the Norse up 4-0.
In the fourth Ethan Stouffer drew a two out walk. Hunter Wells doubled and was followed by Adam Roser walking to load the bases. Tanner Chamberlain then lined a shot up the middle to drive in Stouffer and Wells to make it 6-0. Andy Roser singled to drive in his brother and it was 7-0. Keaffaber then singled to drive in Chamberlain and the rally stopped at 8-0.
Maconaquah would plate a run in the fifth and pitcher Andy Roser would allow a solo home run in the sixth before shutting the Braves down in the seventh for the 8-2 win.
