Valley Jumps On Rochester

February 12, 2012
By Gary Andrews of Three Rivers Conference

The Tippecanoe Valley boys basketball team was hosting TRC foe Rochester Saturday with one thing on their mind, well maybe two. The Vikings knew if they won they secured at least a tie for the TRC crown and if Southwood could top Northfield next week they would win the conference out right.

The Vikings took care of the first part, jumping on the Zebras early for a 54-39 win and now become Southwood Knight fans.

Valley wasted no time jumping on Rochester, building a 23-10 lead after one and led 36-21 at the half.

Rochester would try to hang with Valley, but couldn't gain much ground, although they did out score the host 12-10 and trailed Valley 46-23 after three.

Valley would return the favor in the fourth, out scoring the Zebras by four, 18-16 to go on and secure their title 54-39.

Tippecanoe Valley hit 6 three pointers in the game, Rochester 4.

Leading valley was Nick Kindig with 23 points. Tanner Andrews had 12, Jacob Ritchey 8, Jeff Tillman 6, Chainey Zolman 3 and Logan Britton 2.

For Rochester Aaron Stuart, Seth Corn and Luke Cannedy had 8 points each. Zac Schoen had 7, Jonathon O’Dell 5 and Carter Screeton 3.
