Whitko Tops North Miami On Historic Night

Whitko guard Logan Irwin became the 41st player in Indiana high school basketball history to reach 2000 points in a 85-62 win over North Miami Friday night.
The shot came in the second quarter, when Irwin scored 7 points in less than a minute.
Whitko took the first quarter lead in the high tempo, up and down the floor game. Alex Stoddard led the Whitko surge with 10 points in the quarter as the Warriors played right with the Wildcats. Whitko led 23-19 after one.
Whitko would take control of the game in the second quarter. Behind Irwin the Wildcats out scored the Warriors 18-9 to open a 42-27 lead.
Up 15 heading for the third all the pre game Irwin hype was over and the Wildcats built on their lead, winning the third quarter 24-14 to lead 66-41.
The fourth quarter was a matter of closing it out for Whitko and the improving Warriors needed to finish without giving up to build for the next game. North Miami out scored Whitko in the final quarter 21-19 for the 85-62 final.
Leading Whitko was Logan Irwin with 27 points. Alex Stoddard had 20. Trey Weber had 14.
For North Miami Ethan Beech had 13, Jared Richardson 11, Austin See 9, Ty Musselman 9, Paul Hayes 5, Cody Pugh 4, Alex Borse 4, Cameron Mygrant 3, Keith Rouch 2 and Justin Prior 2.
