Home » Concert Band NewsE-Town Band ConcertMarch 20, 2013 By Greg Brohm of Thomas Nelson HSThis is the first timeever that the bands of Boston middle school and Thomas Nelson high school have gone to contest. Both schools have only had a band for 9 months and it usaully takes a few years for a band to be ready for competition. Being held in John Harden high school in Elisabeth town, the competition is running for 2 days: today, 3-20-13 and tomorrow, 3-21-13. Today the band director, for both the Boston and Thomas Nelson bands, is competing at this contest with the Boston band; tomorrow he will be taking the Thomas Nelson. In the competition each band will be playing 2 pieces of already perpared music in front of 3 judges. They will also have to cite read one piece and it may be something they have never seen or have seen. All 3 pieces will be judged on a scale from 1 to 5. 1+ is the best score any band could possibly get at this contest. For a band o recive this score they must sound very good, even when the are cite reading and don't know what to do. Goodluck to the Boston band today. Tomorrow the high school band needs to come in their band uniforms; black suits or the boys, with bow ties and black dress cloths for the girls. It doesn't really mader as long as it is black and very dressy. The band will be in frist period but after that they need to report to the band room. Good luck and have fun!!!!! By: Kelsey Ray
