The ACT is coming up and here at TNHS were doing our best to prepare for it. What is the ACT and why is it so important? Well the ACT is a national college admissions examination that consists of subject area tests in Math, English, Reading and Science. The ACT is not a quiz to test your IQ level. The questions on the ACT are directly related to everything that you learned in your high school English, mathematics, reading, and science classes. Taking the ACT is important because it makes you visible to colleges and scholarship agencies. If you don’t do well on your ACT test you will have to pay your own way through college and you’ll have to find a way to pay for your own school books as well. If you don’t do well on the ACT you might not even be able to get into the college that you want to! With some colleges you have to have a certain score on your ACT to get accepted and nothing below that score will be acceptable. So that is why here at TNHS teachers have been trying so hard to prepare the juniors for the ACT. They want them to do well in life and have every opportunity out there to be able and achieve their goals. To help them prepare teachers went over the test scores from the last test students took in order to help them see where they struggled and where did well, teaches went over how students could use their time wisely, and how to eliminate answers on the test to find the correct one. By doing these things the students here at TNHS are more likely to succeed and do well on the test.
