Opimist Club Scholarship

February 21, 2013
By Spencer Goff of Thomas Nelson HS

Each year, the Optimist Club of Bardstown hosts several essay competitions. Only Juniors are allowed to submit essays. The local winners receive a plaque, and then go on the regional level consisting of Nelson County, Bulitt County, and Hardin County. The winner receives a $2,500 scholarship payable to the university of their choice. This year's topic was, "How Can I Make My Friends Realize Their Worth?" The essay must be no less than 700 words and no more than 800 words-- not as much as it sounds like. This year's deadline for the first contest of 2013 was last Friday. Talk to a guidance councelor for more information.
