Chapter Speaking is a series of speeches in which you are judged on correctness, memory, etc. SECTIONS OF CHAPTER SPEAKING IMPROMPTU
IMPROMPTU (FRESHMEN ONLY) Student will be given 2 topics and 20 minutes to prepare. You must tell about what you have learned about those topics. The student has 6 minutes to speak. Anything longer will have points deducted. CATEGORIES Beef – Dairy Crops – Floral Fruit/Vegetables – Goat Green House – Horses Nursery/Landscape – Sheep Small Animals – Swine Turf/Lawn -- Poultry
CREED The student will be judged on reciting the FFA Creed from memory; they will answer questions on the creed.
PREPARED PUBLIC SPEAKING Student gets their topic of choice. Their speech must be 6-8 minutes; anything longer will be deducted from the student’s points. Each judge will get to ask each participant 2 questions.
EXTEMPORANEOUS The student will draw 3 topics relating to current Ag issues. The student will pick one and will have 30 minutes to prepare. Note cards are allowed. The speech must be 4 minutes minimum, 6 minutes max. Each judge will ask each participant 2 questions.
