Home » General NewsGenerals Take A Stand! :)November 18, 2012 Thomas Nelson HSRecently, we have found that Kentucky is ranked 16th in the nation for suicidal deaths caused by bullying, and we wanted to change that number. It is said that 1 in 4 people have been bullied, in some way, shape, or form in a week's time. That's just not okay, so Mrs. Warrell had each student and staff member take the pledge against bullying on http://www.pacer.org/bullying/resources/activities/take-the-pledge.asp (we highly encourage you to take the pledge if you haven't already). When agreeing to this pledge, and as a kid against bullying, we have vowed to:
We wanted to make a difference, because no child deserves to feel worthless, like no one cares. No one deserves to have to deal with it alone, and have things that aren't true be said about them. No one deserves to feel weak, and no one deserves to be kicked and be torn apart for being nothing more than themselves. No one should feel like no one understands them and to want to break down every second and no one is there to help. Most importantly, no one should feel like they are so different that they actually want to end their life... no one. The main goal of this pledge was to open our eyes and see what bullying can do, because while it may be joke to some people, it can really hurt someone's feelings. We need to see that we can make a difference, because when we tell someone 'NO' for their wrongdoing, and when we become a friend to that person, it could mean that you just saved their life, and you don't even know it. One person is all it takes to be a friend. One person is all it takes to make someone happy. One person is all it takes to make someone want to be alive, and want to put down whatever weapon or object they were going to use to end their life, because life is special, and every single person has a million reasons to live on this Earth. :) Stand againt bullying, and be a friend. Be the reason someone wants to live. :)
