Boys get a split; last second jumper lifts Mt. Healthy to win while Fugate's record breaking perform

January 19, 2009
By Kieron Boyle of Edgewood High School

A jumper with 5.5 seconds left lifted the visiting Mt. Healthy Owls to the FAVC League victory, 56-55.  Xavier Fugate led all scorers with 22 points.  The Cougars saw a lead slip away due to turnovers and missed opportunities.

The Cougars bounced back in a big way by throttling visiting Eaton, 55 - 35.  The Cougars were paced by the solid play of Xavier Fugate, Kody McCall, and Brennan Kelly.  Xavier became the all-time points scored leader for Edgewood boys basketball in the third quarter of the game on a free-throw (check out the video section of boys basketball to see the shot!).

The Cougars stand at 8-4 overall, 3-2 in the FAVC.  The Cougars host FAVC foe Northwest next Friday.
