The Columbia Central Lions are headed back to the BlueCross Bowl Championship for the third time in four years after they held on Friday to defeated Powell 32-27 in the Class 5A semi-finals.
The Lions relied on workhorse back Chris Martin (22 carries 79 yards two TDs) and receiver Dre Hall with three catches for 96 yards and a 51 yard TD reception. Martin had scores from 5 and 16 yards. The Lions defense got a boost from Ian McNeese on an 84 yard INT returned for a touchdown.
Columbia (12-2)will face Beech (14-0) the team they played for the championship in 2009, Friday 7pm in Cookeville. Beech defeated Jackson North Side 64-31.
