The Goodlettsville Little League All Stars have that attitude…it ain’t over til it’s over. Wednesday night down 3-2 in the top of the sixth Tennessee got two runs and held on to win their third straight game in the Little League World Series. The 4-3 come-from-behind win over San Antonio, Texas propels them into Saturday’s United States Championship game at 2:30 central. Texas took the lead in the 1st inning as Zachery Sanchez scored to put his team on top. The Goodlettsville bats answered in the third when stars Jayson Brown and Brock Myers led off the inning with back to back homers giving Tennesee a 2-1 lead. That score held until the fifth. With one out Sanchez singles followed by an RBI hit by Landry Wideman plating Sanchez. Wideman moves to third and scores on a pass ball to put Texas up 3-2. In the top of the sixth leadoff batter Jake Rucker walks followed by a single by Jayson Brown. Brock Myers strikes out. Luke Brown draws a walk to load the bases. A throw to first by Texas catcher Jordan Candenas gets by the first baseman allowing Rucker to score tying the game 3-3. The next batter Cole Carter (3-3, RBI) connected on his third hit of the game driving in Brown. Tennessee led 4-3. In the bottom half of the 6th Tennessee brought in their third pitcher of the game Luke Brown. Brown struck out the first batter he faced, but walked the second putting the tying run on base. With one out and one on Brown needed a big defensive play by the guys behind him. Texas had Samuel Serchay coming to the plate. And a BIG defensive play is what Brown got. A ground ball hit to second was cleanly field by Lorenzo Butler who tagged the runner and threw to first for a game ending 4-3 double play. Jake Rucker started the game and went 4-1/3 innings. He allowed two runs on three hits and gave way to Ryan Lyle. Lyle went 2/3 inning, but got the win even though he gave up two-runs on three hits. Luke Brown got the save. Zachery Sanchez took the loss for Texas. The line score for Tennessee, four hits on ten hits no errors. Texas three runs and seven hits. Goodlettsville (3-0) will now have two more days off? California will play Tennessee Saturday for the US Championship. Gametime at 2:30 central. The West beat Texas Thursday to earn the right to face Tennessee again for the United States Championship.
