#2 Lions Post Big Opening Win!Columbia Central High’s new head coach Howard Stone recorded his first win at the helm of the Lions Friday night 31-0 over district foe Lawrence County. After a shakie first quarter the Lions took the lead in the second on a nice run by back Chris Martin from six-yards out. Nolan Bone’s extra point made it 7-0 Columbia with 10:45 remaining.
Martin rushed for 96 yards on 12 carries. Mario Williams carried the ball five times for 81 yards and two touchdowns. Columbia’s offense seemed to get better and with every snap. QB Matthew Markham had a productive night 9 for 16 144 yards and a TD (21-yds. to Ian McNeese).
