Tennessee’s Little League state champion Goodlettsville has another big piece of hardware as they captured the Southeast Regional Championship Friday beating Warner-Robbins, Georgia 1-0. For the first time in 25 years (Morristown) Tennessee has a team in the Little League World Series.
Tennessee got the only run of the game in the 2nd inning. Cole Carter led off the frame with a single to right, Blake Osborne came in to run for Carter. Lorenzo Butler reaches base on an error. Runners move to second and third on a pass ball and batter Andrew Snyder then is hit by a pitch to load the bases. With one out a pitch to Jake Rucker gets by the Georgia catcher scoring Osborne. The Goodlettsville pitching has been the key to Tennessee’s victories. Friday was no exception. Starter Brock Myers got into a little trouble, but worked his way out of the jams to take the victory. Jake Rucker got the save with a fantastic job in relief. Tennessee hurlers Myers & Rucker did not allow a Georgia runner to reach third after the first inning. Myers’ final stats 5 innings, 9 strikeouts (19 total), 4BB, NO HITTER. Rucker gave up the only Georgia hit, walking one. Georgia’s Leyton Pinckney pitched five innings. He allowed five hits in the game striking out six. The run Pinckney gave up in 2nd was unearned. Tennessee wins their fourth straight game and will fly to Williamsport Saturday as they are the third team from the US to qualify for the 2012 Little League World Series. CONGRATS Goodlettsville Tennessee Little League’s 2012 Southeast Regional Champions!!!! GOOD LUCK IN THE WORLD SERIES…WE’LL BE WATCHING!!!
