Columbia State Chargers Can Wrap Up TCCAA Title This Weekend!

The Columbia State Community College Chargers can win the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association baseball regular season championship this weekend when they face the Cougars in Cleveland.

#4 C-State (20-4) has a one-game lead over #10 Walters State (19-5) in the region and will need to win two of three at Cleveland State (7-17). 

If the Chargers can pull off at least two wins they'll automatically earn the ticket to the NJCAA East/Central District Tournament at Georgia's Region XVII season champ.

Middle Georgia (24-5) and Darton College (19-6) are in the mix to win the Georgia title. They'll continue play Friday and Saturday. Darton also will have a big four-game series with Georgia Perimeter first week of May.

The 2012 TCCAA Region VII Tournament Champion will join CSCC in the Georgia series  May 18-20. The winner to advance to the NJCAA World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Columbia State currently has 15 state titles and 20 division championships. The Chargers have six world series appearances, the last in 1997 when they won 41 games. 

Update:

Chargers (21-4) win game one 9-0 behind a stellar performance on the mound by freshman Lucas Laster. The former Cornersville Bulldog went the distance in the nine inning contest entering the seventh with a no-hitter on the board before giving up a hit. Laster struck out 10 allowing only one hit and hitting one batter.
