By Greg Bradley of TennesseeSportsNet

With the regular season winding down for the Columbia State Chargers, the attention is focused on East Tennessee. C-State will travel to Cleveland State next Friday and Saturday to close out a memorable season Charger fans hope will conclude with Columbia State remaining on top in the Tennessee Community College Conference.

The latest rankings have the #5 Chargers 20-4 with a one-game lead over #9 Walters State 19-5. If the two teams end the season tied the Chargers would win the tiebreaker, after beating the Senators two out of three this season.

Georgia's Region 17 has a similar scenario. Darton College,  Middle Georgia will battle to finish the season on top in Georgia. Darton still has to play both teams. With Georgia Perimeter in the mix as a spoiler. Darton plays Middle April 24th, 27th and 28th. The Cavaliers play Perimeter on May 1st, 4th & 5th.

Middle George has taken over first place as of April 23rd. MG is 23-5. Darton is in second at 19-5 followed by GPC is 16-8.

If the Chargers hold on to win the TCCAA regular season, CSCC  and Region VII's tournament winner would travel to Georgia for the East/Central District Tournament May 18-21.

All the answers will be revealed following next weeks action in Cleveland Tennessee and Albany Georgia. Stay tuned!

A big series starts tonight (April 24) at Darton College as they host the current Region XVII leader Middle Georgia. Final score was Middle Georgia 14, Darton 2.

NJCAA #13 MGC ups their GCAA record to 24-5 while Darton dropped to 19-6. Three games remain in the series. Georgia Perimeter, third in the region, beat Andrew College 11-2 moving to 17-8. GPC finishes with a season ending series with Darton starting May 1st.

Friday April 27th....Middle Georgia 9, Darton 2.
