The Columbia State Chargers (24-5) (11-1) hosts the NJCAA's baseball new number one Walters State (28-3)(10-2) Friday (2:00) and Saturday (12:00) at Dave Hall Field.

The Chargers on a 35-game winning streak at home and for the first time in a few years have also received votes in the NJCAA national poll and are ranked just out of the top 20, hope to keep the magic alive as they enter this weekend's play.

Columbia State had the magic continue Tuesday as they trailed Calhoun Community College in the bottom of the seventh. Sophomore Derrick Armstrong smacked his second homer of the season for the walk-off win.

This weekends play will feature of some the nations best as the Senators bring the NJCAA's eleventh rated home run hitter Marcus Davis (8), and Colin Bennett (6) 25th ranked. Davis is also 18th in hitting with. .532 average.

Both teams are ranked in the NJCAA Top 10 in team batting average leaders. The Chargers #8 with an .353 average and the Senators #5 with a .363.

Among the nations pitchers both teams are down. The Senators have one player ranked in the top ten. Former Spring Hill Raider standout Zach Walton is ranked 5th. Walton has  played in five games this year pitching 7.2 innings striking out eleven while giving up one run on six hits. Walton has a .000era.

The winner of this series will most likely be ranked number one in the TCCAA come Monday. So these games are very important for Columbia State. They still have Jackson State in Jackson and Chattanooga State at home.
