Home » Football NewsClark FieldSeptember 10, 2012 By Craig Aycock of St. Cloud Tech FootballST. CLOUD TECH HIGH SCHOOL Office of Student Activities TIGER FOOTBALL ANNOUNCEMENT The four home varsity football games for Tech High School will be moved to St. Cloud State University’s Husky Stadium this fall. The District had hoped to be able to play varsity games at Clark Field as originally scheduled, but the deteriorating conditions of the team rooms, concession stands, and public restrooms have made it necessary to relocate the varsity events to accommodate large crowds at home games. Several structures on the site have sustained water damage, and the teams rooms were tested for air quality with results indicating the presence of mold and lead. Although the team rooms see limited use during games, they have been determined to be off limits to student occupancy this year. The concession stands have also been closed due to water damage and moisture problems. Tech currently uses Husky Stadium and other St. Cloud State University facilities for a number of athletic events, including boys and girls soccer, boys and girls lacrosse, boys hockey, and occasionally lower level football. The District has had a rental agreement with SCSU for many years and will expand that agreement this fall to include varsity football. Clark Field will continue to be used for practice and lower level football games including elementary, 9th, 10th, and junior varsity. Team rooms, concessions and public restrooms are not as critical for lower level games with much smaller crowds. A committee consisting of the Health and Safety Supervisor, Building and Grounds Supervisor, Tech Activities Director, Tech Principal, Tech Football Staff, Tech Booster Club, Tech Alumni Association Officers, Business Services Director, and Superintendent will explore long range plans for Clark Field and develop recommendations for the Board of Education.
