PORTLAND, Ind. – Centerville’s second double play of the day came with the bases loaded in the seventh inning Saturday as the Bulldogs completed a 4-2 victory over Jay County in the second game of a doubleheader.

The Patriots earned a 3-2 victory in Game 1 via a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh.

Centerville coach Tracey Crull said that Jay County turned a triple play in the first game to kill a potential Centerville rally.

Eli Callahan struck out six in Game 1, while Tyler Weaver struck out seven for the victory in Game 2 and Sam Shaw earned a save in the win.

Cody Weiss scored in the top of the seventh inning of Game 1 as the Bulldogs tied the game at 2.

Jack Willis was 3-for-6 on the day.

“Defense was amazing. I was really, really happy with our kids going up there and competing,” Crull said. “It was a great day of baseball, I think we played really well both games.”
