FOUNTAIN CITY, Ind. – Skyler Ashcraft hit a two-run single with the bases loaded Saturday to give Northeastern a 7-6 victory over Wapahani in the second game of a doubleheader. The Raiders took the first game 11-3.
Ashcraft went 4-for-4 with two RBIs in Game 2, while Del Caudill and Craig Dingwerth were each 2-for-4 with a double.
Austin Kenworthy started the seventh by reaching on an error, before Jake Slinker singled and Caudill doubled. Kelsy Kirkland reached on an infield single to load the bases for Ashcraft.
Craig Dingwerth started on the mound and struck out four over four innings, before Caudill gave up just one hit and struck out three over three relief innings.
Conner Silvers had two RBIs in the game.
“To split with them was big,” Northeastern coach Steve Bray said. “I think our kids realize that if we play a little bit better, we can actually see the potential of how good we can be if we play good ball.”
Slinker also had two hits and doubled in Game 1, while Dingwerth, Silvers and Caudill singled. Dingwerth had two RBIs, and Silvers stole a base.
The Knights (3-2) play Tuesday at Knightstown.
