Centerville’s streak of Wayne County Tournament championships in volleyball reached three straight on Saturday as the Bulldogs blitzed their way to the crown. Centerville swept Northeastern 25-16, 25-18, 25-19 in the first round, then fended off a tough challenge from Hagerstown to win 25-18, 17-25, 25-22, 25-19 in the final. It was especially sweet for a squad that was short on experience to start the season. “It’s amazing because it’s a young team. We don’t have any seniors at all,” said junior Brittany Jones. “We just came out intense.” And with contributions coming from all over the court. Jones had 51 digs on the day, while Sarah Stelle finished with 29 kills, Jordan Vanwinkle added 22 and freshman Kaylin Smith had 14. Alexis Cox provided 68 assists, Alexis Stamper 12 kills, Cristen Hale 14 points and Pacia Purcell six kills. http://www.pal-item.com/article/20120929/HSSPORTS/309290023/Bulldogs-break-out-title?nclick_check=1
