The Tigers toppled Union County 49-7 in the first of four Tri-Eastern Conference games on Ball State’s home football field. Quarterback Cole Bartlett fueled the Hagerstown offense, rushing for 51 yards and three touchdowns, and throwing for another 75 yards and a score. Equally impressive was the Tiger defense. Hagerstown held the Patriots off the scoreboard until late in the fourth quarter on the way to improving to 5-0 overall, 3-0 in the TEC. “We finally got things clicking on all cylinders,” said senior linebacker Kain Grose. “We played hard like we always do, but the offense clicked for four quarters and that’s what we’ve been looking for all year.” Hagerstown’s defense was responsible for the Tigers’ first points, too, registering a safety on a punt attempt early in the first quarter.
