A year after strong performances by the school’s girls golf, volleyball and softball teams, the golfers are at it again, winning Monday’s season-opening Joe Moehring Richmond Girls Golf Invitational. The Patriot team recorded five rounds under 90 to edge the host Red Devils by three strokes, 334-337 at Highland Lake Golf Course, but there was good news for all of the area’s competing teams. Host Richmond had a solid day, with four scores of 90 or less, Winchester’s top three players shot 82 or lower, Hagerstown had a 362 team score, and Centerville’s Sierra Lesh shot 77 for the Bulldogs. But the UC team had the best day, along with Winchester sophomore Mackenzie Mehaffey, medalist for the day with a round of 75. http://www.pal-item.com/article/20120730/SPORTS/307300025/Patriots-edge-host-RHS
