Team Worth '96 players receive school ball honors

May 17, 2011
By Scott Greer of Team Worth 96

Team Worth '96 was well represented across the state this spring during the school ball season. Several of our girls have received distinctions for their fine play:

Kelsey Alexander received All-Region Honors for her play at Franklin Road Academy this year. The Team Worth '96 utility player was a vital cog in helping FRA to repeat successes this season, in only her freshman year. Kelsey's continued experience against the highest competition with Team Worth '96 will no doubt lead to even greater things for the Panthers in years to come.

Sierra Bateman, third baseman for Team Worth '96, was distinguished by receiving All-District honors in District 9A for Moore County High School. The Worth '96 slugger played multiple roles through the season for the Raiderettes, including pitching when needed. Showing the competitive heart so often seen with Team Worth '96, Sierra gave her best throughout the season. The household also received a second honor this season as Sierra's brother, Dakota, also earned All-District honors in baseball at MCHS.

Ally Glover also received All-District honors at University School of Jackson this spring. And just for good measure, she followed that up with an All-Region tournament performance as well as the Bruins captured the regional title and are heading into sub-state. The Worth '96 catcher was a standout performer defensively and with the bat in her hands as she helped in USJ's quest to return to the State Tournament in Division IIA.

Finally, our own Katie McCroskey received the Hardison Sportsmanship Award at Brentwood Middle School this year. The award is given to one 8th grade boy and girl each year for their contributions in sportsmanship, citizenship and attitude. The Worth '96 centerfielder was also a standout volleyball player at BMS and has been an integral part of the Vikings' successes on both the softball diamond and volleyball court during her three years at BMS.

Congratulations to these girls for their special distinctions and to all of our players who have contributed heavily to the fortunes of their school ball teams. We are all very proud of you and cannot wait to see you all reunited in the Team Worth '96 uniforms!
