Home » Basketball NewsTates Creek Wins DistrictFebruary 28, 2011 By Brian Tilford of Tates Creek High SchoolTates Creek Wins District Brian Tilford Friday night the Tates Creek Commodores beat Lexington Catholic to win the 43rd District. They won last Tuesday against Lexington Christian to advance to the Region 11 tournament but the win Friday was to get a top seed in the tournament and play a loser of another district in the first game. Tates Creek played Lexington Catholic for the 3rd time and it was on a neutral site because Tates Creek beat Catholic at their home first and catholic beat Tates Creek at their home. This Wednesday night Tates Creek will play their game in the Region 11 tournament against Henry Clay. They are also a tough opponent they lost to Scott County in their district tournament. Tates Creek has beat Henry Clay twice this year but I know that Henry clay will be ready to come and play tougher than what they have played all season. This could be a big game for both teams because the winner will advance to the semifinal game then the Championship game is Monday night and the winner will advance to the Sweet Sixteen tournament that is held at Rupp Arena.
