Home » Basketball NewsRyan Fucci Commits to WKUNovember 12, 2010 By Clay Vanlandingham of Tates Creek High SchoolTates Creek Senior Ryan Fucci, who is one of the best baseball and basketball players in the state, has committed to play baseball at Western Kentucky University after visiting the campus over the weekend. Fucci hit a .360 average with 31 runs and 21 RBIs despite playing with a torn right labrum. Ryan also averaged 18 points and 5 rebounds a game for Tates Creek last spring. Fucci's first thought was to play college hoops but he had shoulder surgery in June that made miss this summer's AAU circuit which made many schools who wanted him for baseball and basketball pull away. Ryan's father is a legend at Tates Creek, Dom Fucci, who was a two-sport star himself and won the Mr. Basketball award in 1975, and went on to play college baseball at Auburn university. Ryan will sign his LOI on November 17. I know Ryan personally and he is a great guy to know and Western Kentucky is going to have a star in the making, don't be shocked if we see Ryan in the MLB someday. In other news, Ryan's teammate Marcellus Barksdale signed his LOI to play basketball at IUPUI on Wednesday at Tates Creek High School.
