Home » Athletics NewsWEG ReflectionOctober 5, 2010 By Clay Vanlandingham of Tates Creek High SchoolI went to the World Equestrian Games on October 1, 2010 with Mr. Sutherland’s Class. This was a trip to remember and it will be one of the greatest things I’ve done in my whole life. They had many events that were going on at the WEG like eventing, jumping, vaulting, endurance, and many other exciting things. There were a lot of tents up around the park that made you feel like you were in some big circus, with a lot of advertising going on by companies like Land Rover, Rolex, Meydan, among others. The food at the WEG was very good, expensive but worth every cent spent. The amount of people at the games was amazing, I think there were over 5,000 people at the games from all different countries. I even talked to a woman who was a school teacher from Australia, which was interesting to me. The atmosphere was amazing, which made me feel like a true horse fan and feel like I won the World Series. Walking around the park was pretty awesome seeing events going on, people walking around, hearing some very cool sounds, and sit in a very nice car. The best thing I did there was go into the Microsoft booth and play Xbox 360 for a little while.
