After rolling through the Fayette County iHigh Soccer Frenzy over the weekend, the Tates Creek High School girls' soccer team solidified its position among the top squads in Kentucky, playing a state powerhouse to a 2-2 draw Tuesday night. Destinie Graves and Shelby Williams each netted a goal as the Commodores hung tough against No. 3 Assumption in Louisville.
After a scoreless first half, Tates Creek got on the board first when Jordan Chlebowy connected on a nice pass to Graves, who buried a shot for the score. Assumption knotted things up again about eight minutes later. The Commodores reclaimed the lead on Williams' goal at the 29:13 mark, but Assumption responded again, scoring off a corner kick with less than four minutes to play.
Tates Creek keeper Arly Lankster played a solid game in net as the Rockets got off 24 shots, 15 on goal.
Over the weekend, Tates Creek outscored opponents 23-2, rolling to victories over Lexington Christian, Lafayette, Dunbar and George Rogers Clark in the iHigh Soccer Frenzy. Dunbar was the only team to score on Commodore netminder Lankster during the tourney.
