November 13, 2011
By Bryan Priddy of South Warren Middle SchoolSouth Warren honored the veterans that were in attendance on Friday, Nov 11th for a Veterans Day program in the South Warren Auditorium. Nearly 650 people gathered for the ceremony that was started off with some music from the South Warren Band and Chorus. South Warren 8th grader Tanner Maple did an amazing job singing the National Anthem.
Senator Mike Wilson and State Representative Jody Richards were both in attendance and spoke about the importance of Veterans Day and what it has meant in their lives.
Mr. Anthony Spires led the program that featured and recognized many former veterans who were introduced. Each of these spoke and stated what branch of service they had been in and when and where they served. Three of South Warren's faculty were recognized for their military service. Sean Young, Nicholas Day, and Kevin Payne were all included in the ceremony. These individuals were all given a well deserved standing ovation from the South Warren Middle student body, faculty, and guests.
A student made tribute video was then shown to finish the program. Thanks to everyone in attendance and for all those involved in making this a success
