7th Grade Quick Recall gets opening season win over Bowling Green
November 7, 2011
By Bryan Priddy of South Warren Middle SchoolThe South Warren Middle School Academic Team opened their season this week at Bowling Green Jr. High. There were several delays and interruptions early in the first match due to technology problems the Spartan team remained composed. Our first match concluded with a victory for our 7th grade team, which is a great accomplishment considering the team is mostly made up of students from several of our feeder elementary schools, playing together for the first time. Abby Minnicks served as the captain for this match and did a great job with a final 16-8 win. Our 8th grade came up a little short, falling 12-7 in their match. The 8th grade team is led by Sam Tuggle, and is also adjusting with some new faces including Sylvia Kirkwood, a 7th grader that most likely will continue to play at the higher level. The standout for the night was SWMS student Tanner Lindsey who gave up some playing time to assist with the technology problems serving as the buzzer operator so the matches could proceed.
We look forward to our next match against Moss on November 15th and our first home game against Caverna on November 17th.
