Spartans take 3 of 4 against Moss Dragons

South Warren Basketball came just within two points of picking up a sweep over the Moss Dragons on Thursday night.
The Lady Spartans 7th grade got off to a fast start by jumping to a 27-5 lead over the visiting Dragons. SW would go on to win 34-15 and move their season record to 7-3 and 3-2 in conference play.
The Spartans 7th grade game was delayed while waiting for an official to arrive and once the game got under way, the Spartans came out flat and fell behind 23-12 at the half. SW turned up the defense and went on a 20 - 6 run to take a 32-29 lead with just 2 minutes to go. The Dragons tied the game at 34 with just 0:58 seconds to go and then would hit 2 technical free throws to win 36-34. Cameron Harrison had 9 of his team high 11 points in the 2nd half. SW was only 6 of 16 from the free throw line. The loss dropped the Spartans to 4-7 on the season and 1-4 in conference play.
The Lady Spartans 8th grade jumped to a 24-12 halftime lead. The Dragons answered back and cut it to 27-20 late in the 3rd quarter, before SW went on a blistering 21-0 run en route to a 48-23 win over visiting Moss. The win moved the Lady Spartans to 7-6 on the season and 2-3 in conference play. The Lady Spartans play @ Franklin Simpson on Monday, Dec 16.
The Spartans 8th grade picked up their 2nd victory over Moss this season with a 47-38 win on the road. The game was tight much of the night as SW led 22-17 after the break and 34-27 after 3 quarters. Collin Moore had a game high 17 points, 11 in the 2nd half. Gage Haggerty added 10 points for SW. The win moved the Spartans to 4-7 on the season and 2-3 in conference play. The Spartans return to action at home on Monday, Dec 16 vs Franklin Simpson.
