Softball Spartans move to 12-6 with sweep over Drakes Creek

Four first-inning runs helped South Warren Middle School to a 6-1 win over Drakes Creek Middle School at Greenwood on Tuesday.
Emma Mills had two extra-base hits for South Warren Middle School. She tripled in the first inning and doubled in the third inning.
Karson Williams was in control in the circle. Drakes Creek Middle School managed just two hits off of Williams, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four during her four innings of work.
South Warren Middle School scored one run in the second inning, and then followed it up with one more in the fourth. In the second, South Warren Middle School scored on a walk by Sonya Merritt, bringing home Katie Conley.
In the third inning, Drakes Creek Middle School pushed across its only run of the day on an error.

Shelby Nunn carried South Warren Middle School to a 5-1 victory over Drakes Creek Middle School on Tuesday at Greenwood with a strong game at the plate and on the rubber.
Nunn went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for South Warren Middle School. She singled in the first and third innings and doubled in the fourth inning.
Drakes Creek Middle School couldn't get anything going as long as Nunn was pitching. Drakes Creek Middle School managed just two hits off of the South Warren Middle School's pitcher, who allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out two during her four innings of work.
South Warren Middle School went up for good in the first, scoring two runs on an error and a sacrifice fly by Alexis Isable.
Drakes Creek Middle School managed to score one run in the first inning on a groundout by Rimel, eight.
South Warren returns to action on Thursday, Aug 30. when they will travel to Logan County for a doubleheader. Game time is at 5:00 p.m. Good luck to the Spartans.
