The South Warren volleyball teams were too much for the Bowling Green Christian Academy Warriors to handle on Monday night. BGCA, a first year program, received a harsh welcome to the volleyball district by the Spartans as both the 7th and 8th grade teams won in straight sets. In the first match, the 7th grade team used pinpoint serving to keep the Warriors off-balance, which resulted in 21 total aces. South Warren was led by setter, Mary Pitts, with 9 aces and defensive specialist, Nena Vespa, with 7 aces and they cruised to a 25-12, 25-18 victory.
In the second match, the 8th grade Spartans team took no mercy on the Warriors. South Warren scored 28 points off aces and BGCA could never get on track falling 25-7,25-6 to the Spartans. South Warren was led by libero, McKayla Marcrum, with 9 aces and 1 kill while setter, Lydia Jackson had 7 aces to go along with 1 kill and outside hitter, Brittany Reels, added 6 aces and 2 kills.
The Spartans next host the undefeated Bowling Green Junior High Purples in a battle for first place in the district. So, come out to Spartans Arena this Thursday at 5:30 to support your South Warren volleyball teams. GO SPARTANS!
