SW Baseball moves to 14-4 with sweep over Butler County

April 25, 2012
By Bryan Priddy of South Warren Middle School

South Warren Middle School baseball team currently is 14 - 4 after playing eight games over the last 5 days.

South Warren started the opener of the Drakes Creek tourney on Friday, Apr 20 against Franklin Simpson. The Spartans tournament seemed as if it would be short lived as SW trailed 5-0 going into the final inning. SW did what seemed impossible and made a miraculous comeback and won 6-5. The following day saw SW get excellent pitching in a 3-2 win over Christian County and 5-1 win over Allen County. The Spartans moved into the championship game against Bowling Green and would not be able to keep their momentum going, falling 11-0 to the Purples. Coach Young said the loss was a lack of hitting and untimely errors in the field that put the game out of reach.

After one day off, the Spartans were back in action Monday night at home and would split a doubleheader against Franklin Simpson. The Spartans took the first game 8-5 and would drop the second game 7-3.

The Spartans picked up a pair of wins over Butler County on Tuesday night by scores of  5-0 and 7-3.

South Warren returns to action at home on Wednesday as they take on Hopkinsville in a doubleheader, starting at 5:30 p.m. Good luck to Coach Young and the Spartans baseball team.
