Spartans off to 4-0 start with wins over Drakes & Warren East

By Bryan Priddy of South Warren Middle SchoolSouth Warren's baseball season is off to a quick 4-0 record with wins over Drakes Creek and Warren East over the first week of play. Here are some of the highlights from the last week of play.
Wednesday, March 22 vs Drakes
The Spartans opened the season with 5-1 and 7-2 wins over crosstown rivals Drakes Creek @ SW. Michael Hicks started the season off by throwing a 1 hitter and giving up 1 run in the opening victory. Noah Burns picthed 5 innings in the 2nd game and picked up the victory over the Gators.
Tuesday, March 27 @ Warren East
The Spartans moved to 4-0 on the season with 8-0 and 5-3 wins over the home Warren East Raiders.
The Spartans won the opening game behind the dominant pitching performance of Russ Kerr. Kerr struck 10 batters out and gave up 0 runs in 4 innings. Chandler Harnage pitched the last inning to pick up the save.
The 2nd game saw the Spartans fall behind 3-0 before rallying for the 5-3 win. Ryder Litten started the game and Harnage came in the last 2 innings to pick up the win for South Warren.
The Spartans return to action on Wednesday, March 28 @ Franklin Simpson. The first of 2 games will start at 5:00 p.m.
