SWMS Spartans "Spread the Red" @ WKU

More than 2,000 students from south-central Kentucky, including students from all four Warren County middle schools, attended the Western Kentucky University Lady Toppers second annual "Spread the Red Education Day" basketball game on January 4 in Diddle Arena. Students in grades 6-8 from Bowling Green schools, grade 8 from Warren County schools, select students in grades 6-8 from Glasgow Middle School, and select eighth graders from Lewisburg School in Logan County -- along with teachers and staff — were admitted to the game free of charge.

Students who have maintained perfect attendance during the 2011-12 school year were invited on the court during halftime.

The "Education Day" game was the culmination of a month-long program between WKU Athletics and the participating school systems. Teachers will utilize statistics and biographical information on the student-athletes and teams as a learning tool, incorporating them into reading, math, and geography lessons.
