Home » Middle School Football NewsMiddle School Results: Prospect Wins County Championship!November 16, 2011 Purnell Swett High Schoolby Tony Chavis Lambert leads Wildcats to Middle School Title  Pembroke- Garrett Lambert ran for 121 yards and 3 touchdowns as Prospect defeated Pembroke 32-22 to win Robeson County Middle school title. In a game that was a battle of the undefeated, Prospect (8-0) jumped on the scoreboard first as Lambert took  a pitch and scored from 42 yards out and also had the conversion to make score 8-0.  Warriors (8-1)answered with a 8 play drive capped off by Christian Strong’s 3 yard run up the gut and with the conversion by Strong tied it at 8-8. Lambert then scored his second touchdown on a 5 play drive from 13 yards out and added the conversion for 16-8 lead. The Warriors Malcolm Locklear then took the kickoff back for a 75 yard score and with Strong’s conversion knotted the score once again 16-16. Lambert scored his third touchdown on a 25 yard run to pay-dirt with 3:43 left in 2nd quarter. Dakota Brooks hit Jon Freeman for the 2 point conversion to put Wildcats back in front 24-16. Wildcats forced a fumble on the Warriors next possession, which was recovered by Lambert, but Prospect quickly turned it back over as Terry Brayboy intercepted a Brooks pass . With time running out in the 2nd quarter, facing a 2nd and 15, Warriors’ David Bell took a pitch but was stopped at the 2 yard line as time expired.        Warriors picked up Strong’s second touchdown of the game on a 10 play drive, as he scored from 7 yards out with 22.0 seconds in 3rd quarter. The Wildcats defense stopped the conversion and were up 24-22.Warriors defense held on Prospect’s next possession forcing a punt by Braylan Locklear, with Prospect downing the ball at Warriors 4 yard-line. Wildcats, got a safety as Malcolm Locklear was tackled in end-zone by Braylan Locklear to up lead to 26-22.
