Home » Middle School Football NewsProspect Homecoming!October 29, 2010 Purnell Swett High SchoolBy Tony Chavis Prospect- On homecoming, Prospect behind 2 passing touchdowns by Thristian Lowry defeated Orrum in double overtime 18-12. Prospect (5-1) opened game on a 10 play drive moving into Orrum territory at 36 but 4th and 9 pass was knocked down giving Raiders possession. Shyheim Hines picked up quick 25 yards. 3 penalties proved costly as Wildcats forced Raiders to punt and Braylan Locklear took punt and scampered to pay dirt for an 85 yard score. Pass failed and Wildcats took an early 6-0 lead. Neither team was able to mount any threat from there and Prospect led at half. In second half, Raiders (4-1)started from their own 20, and on 14 yard run by Kirkland Hucks and 17 yard run by Hines moved ball into Wildcats territory. A pass from Yshawn Gaddy to Hucks of 16 yards moved ball to 24. 5 running plays and two off-sides penalties moved ball to 6 and Hucks carried it in for 6 yard score. The run failed and the score was tied 6-6. Neither team was able to mount a drive for the final quarter setting up overtime. Prospect won the toss and decided to play defense first. The ball was placed at 10. An off-sides penalty moved ball up 5 yards and a run of 4 yards and 1 yard burst up middle by Hines, but the 2 point conversion pass was knocked down by Kaley Tyner, and Raiders led 12-6. After 2 running plays only netted 1 yard ,Thristian Lowry bootlegged left and hit wide open DJ Lowry for 9 yard score, but the run failed knotting the score at 12-12 to force the second overtime. In the second overtime, Wildcats opened up on offense. 2 runs and an incomplete pass set up a 4th and Five for Prospect. Again Thristian Lowry bootlegged this time to right and hit Jordan Chavis for 5 yard touchdown pass. The run failed, but Prospect took 18-12 lead. Raiders were called for holding penalty on first play pushing ball back to 20. A 12 yard run by Hines moved ball to 8. Hucks was stopped for no gain and Hines picked up 5 setting up 4th and goal from 3. The Wildcats defense proved strong as on pitch to Hines he dropped the ball, and Hucks recovered for Raiders but Eric McMillan and Tyner made tackle and Wildcats prevailed for the victory.
