Stephen Thompson, Jr. keeps improving as a player and a prospect. What school is recruiting him the hardest and who did he grew up rooting for?

One of the bigger freshman to sophomore jumps in Southern California has come from 6-foot-2, 150-pound Torrance (Calif.) Bishop Montgomery 2015 shooting guardStephen Thompson, Jr.

Thompson, whose father played for Syracuse and the NBA, has taken his game to the next level as he's continued to get taller, having grown at least a couple inches from last year.

A terrific shooter, Thompson is a serious threat to shoot from deep, plays hard and is a very good defender despite his slight size.

"I'm shooting the ball really well right now," Thompson said. "I can shoot from three, midrange and have a floater. I'm also good at offensive rebounding. I need to get stronger and quicker defensively."

Gonzaga is Thompson's lone offer, although he says he's heard from Boston College recently as well.

"Gonzaga has been by my games and practices," Thompson said. "I like how they run and shoot three's a lot."

While Gonzaga has done a good job recruiting Thompson, he's also hoping to hear from a local school.

"I grew up rooting for UCLA," he said. "That's the hometown school. I would definitely want to go there."

When it comes time to make a decision, Thompson has an idea of what he'll be looking for.

"I'm looking for a nice balance between academics and athletics," he said.
