Cypress Bay, which has three sets of sisters on its 14-member team, captured the district championship by four shots over two-time defending champion St. Thomas Aquinas as it carded a 325. The Raiders shot 329, thanks to medalist Heather Netti's 75. West Broward was a distant third with 375. The teams brought five golfers to the tournament, which serves as a qualifier for next week's regional competition that will also be held at Bonaventure. The top three teams and top three individuals not on the qualifying teams advance to next week. The Lightning rode the strong play of sophomore Valentina Haupt, who shot a team-leading 77, and senior Sherrell Buckley and her freshman sibling, Brianna, who each shot 83s. Cypress Bay golf coach Mike White left his two daughters (Brooke and Michaela), along with the youngest Haupt (freshman Josefina) off the lineup card for Monday. The Buckleys are daughters of former Miami Dolphins defensive back Terrell Buckley. Cypress Bay junior Mikaela Thibodeau shot an 82.
