Foluke Akinradewo helps defeat Brazil

Though her production was far less than it was in the opening game for the U.S. women's volleyball team, former St. Thomas Aquinas star Foluke Akinradewo contributed nicely in a 3-1 victory over Brazil in Group B pool play on Monday.

It was an impressive victory for Team USA over a Brazilian side that entered the Olympics ranked second in the FIVB senior world rankings. The United States holds the top spot, but the win (25-18, 25-17, 22-25, 25-21) will surely boost confidence as the teams move toward the knockout round.

Akinradewo chipped in with nine spikes Monday, which was the fourth-highest total on the team.
