With a first-time starter in net and a 2-1 deficit to Oviedo-Hagerty late in the state title game, Giron made changes to his lineup. That change brought on the tying goal and the overtime winner. "We didn't know where we would be at the start of the season. We knew we'd have a lot of work to do — the girls knew that. We worked really hard to get back to the place we wanted to be. Obviously that work paid off." First team Class 5A-4A
Sarah Guensler St. Thomas Aquinas senior Pos.: Midfielder Comment: Scored 15 goals and added 14 assists. A veteran presense in midfield, helping the Raiders to a 27-1-1 record and Class 5A Mackenzie Klingmann St. Thomas Aquinas senior Pos.: Defender Comment: She's heading to Brown, but at St. Thomas Aquinas, Klingmann was the all-vital sweeper for the state champion. Megan Sweeney St. Thomas Aquinas senior Pos.: Goalkeeper Comment: St. Thomas Aquinas' fearless keeper was a dominant force in net.
