Varsity comes back to win against Mounds View

October 25, 2013
By Ryan Dehnel of St. Michael Albertville Volleyball

The varsity team used improved passing, great blocking, and great middle hitting to take over the match in the third set.  The scores were 15-25, 19-25, 25-14, 25-20, 15-4.  The Knights were led on offense by Courtney Wooters, who posted one of the best matches of her career, hitting .467 (15 kills-1 error-30 attempts).  Freya Macari Hanson also had a solid night, hitting .250 on 40 attempts.  Malissa LeClaire did a great job distributing the ball with 41 assists, and also led the team with 20 digs.  Freya and Kate Drimel also helped out with 19 and 18 digs respectively.  Kaitlin Olson did great in her second match back in the line-up, coming up with some key digs and Rae Arns came of the bench to provide some leadership and stability that was much needed.

The Knights play Osseo as the second match in a double header on Wednesday, Oct 30 at Osseo High School.  Blaine and Champlin Park will play the first match at 5pm, with the Knights/Orioles match to follow at 7pm.  Tickets will be double header rate ($6 student/senior, $8 adult).
