2012-13 Season Preview
The 2012-13 season looks to be special. This will be the last year together for most of the players on the team. The Wildcats will dress 8 seniors this year that bring experience that will exceed most of their competition. Coach Davis believes that in order to have tough players you must continuously put them in tough situations. These guys have been tested and Davis believes that players learning to deal with adversity on the court, are preparing themselves for life, which may not be so easy.
The Wildcats return 7 players from last season of which 5 have been members of the team since St. Luke’s High School opened. The Wildcats are excited about the return of their experienced players. Returning Senior Chris Enger has been a member of the All County Team. He is leading scorer for the past 2 seasons and expected to perform at a higher level this season as Chris has a chance to be St. Luke’s first player to reach 1000 points in a career. Other returners Adam Miller, Alex Polio, Taylor Blackwell, Blake Fitzgerald, Joshua McSwain and Thomas Stubblefield will be expected to be big contributors this season as they have been in the past. Additionally, Thomas Stubblefield, Adam Miller, and Taylor Blackwell were members of the All Academic Team last season. The Wildcat’s will welcome 4 new players this season as seniors Walter Gilmer, Lorenzo Lindsey, Aaron Bryant, and John Burks join the team and are expected to give the team a boost in their efforts to go deep in the playoffs this season.
The players have worked hard in the off season to improve their individual strength and skills and played a lot of games in June preparing for this season. They have focused on learning how to win and they feel this is the year that the Wildcats take what they have learned and turn it into wins.
