Class 1A No. 1 St. Luke's proved why the Saints are the top-ranked team with a doubleheader sweep of J.U. Blacksher by scores of 7-0 and 10-4.

In the first game, Brandon Cook pitched a complete-game, five-hit shutout to run his record to 8-1 on the season. He walked four and struck out three.

Cook also had a single and a double and an RBI. Drew Dismukes also had a single, double and RBI and Justin Robinson had two hits a three RBIs.

Jeremy Redditt and Dakota Barlow each had two hits for J.U. Blacksher and Seth Baggett took the loss.

In the second game, St. Luke's (27-4) scored five runs in the top of the first inning and four in the third in rolling to a convincing win.

Luke Phillips slammed a two-run home run to lead the offense. Danny Haskell added two hits for the winners.

Leighton Lary (8-2) was the winning pitcher after striking out six and giving up one earned run on four hits.

Redditt and Hunter Turberville each had two hits, a run scored and one RBI for J.U. Blacksher.
