Baseball: Jackson drives in six runs as St. Luke's sweeps Pope John Paul II Catholic

Jeremiah Jackson drove in three runs in each game of a doubleheader as Class 1A No. 1 St. Luke's swept Pope John Paul II Catholic 9-1 and 8-2.

Jackson had a double and a single, three RBIs and two runs scored in the first game. In the second, he doubled and drove in three runs.

In the opener, Brandon Cook and Luke Phillips also had two hits and Austin Davis drove in two runs.

The host Wildcats (17-4) led 3-1 after two innings, then broke the game open with four runs in the bottom of the third.

Cook (4-1) went the distance to earn the win, giving up four hits and an unearned run while walking two and striking out one.

Jon Noel had a hit and an RBI for the Falcons (14-6).

In the second game, Cook and Leighton Lary both had two hits for St. Luke's, with Lary driving in three runs. The Wildcats scored five times in the first two innings to build a lead they would not lose.

Lary (5-2) also pitched seven innings in a winning effort, allowing four hits and two runs, one earned, while striking out six and walking two.

 

Noel had two hits, including a double, while Bryan Kusek had a single and an RBI for the Falcons.
